* = rolling time. I did stop a lot as told below.

The ride - After yesterdays visit to Duxford on bike to see the international airshow (which by the way was very good although I was quite exhausted on the way there, stopping halfway) I should have guaged that my fitness was still good for short bursts of high intensity but the endurance aspect was very much lacking. Up at 0700 and get brekki (still only a bowl of branflakes, have to change this for next time) and saddled onto the bike. The day was warm and sunny but not yet HOT. The advantage of the now-early autumn is the long shadows cast by the sun in the morning and afternoon (not yet in the middle of the day). Set out okay, by about mile 34 i was struggling to keep with the group, especially up hills. Luckily the cafe was at mile 40 because the group were fading into the distance at this very high speed. At the Cafe I found that my back wheel had a broken spoke and was severly buckled making turning it very difficult. A nice toastie and apple pie added more energy but I was too knackered and decided to stop at mile 50 in a nice shaded corner by the road. Where was I and how would I make it back? I recognised Haverhill on the sign posts and made my way there and found Cambridge was the other side of it along a nice main road. I stopped at a garage and got some Lucazade and energy chocolate. The road (the A1307) was severly nasty for my knackered self with lots of long hills. I made about 4 stops along this road. Its a nice road, if one is fit and energy rich, so I might do a return journey some time. After climbing the last hill and seeing Cambridge I knew I had made it and rode the last number of miles back here relieved and knackered. The Cafe was very nice and I would definitely recommend it (Sue Rider Cafe).

Duxford - Saturday cycled to the yellow road south of Duxford airport. Watched planes and helis from 2 till about 6 then cycled back. Took some fotos but as I dont have a telephoto lens ill be lucky for some good action pictures. About 26 miles at 18.4 mph. Way back i rode along the A1301 and on the way there a mixed route over some hills.
Earlier Sat I went into town and got a new Diary, bike repair kit and some stationary. Very warm all day Sat too.
