cambridge ely cambridge

all in one monstrous day. I started, left the house that is, at 0835 and began 5 mins later. Following a walking regieme that I read in Clear Water Rising (by Nicholas Crane) where he would walk for 55 mins of every hour and rest for the remaining 5 mins. This method of progress was great except for the end where I was supremely tired and my feet and legs were too sore to use yet I still used them going at a reduced hobble by the end in time to get the first episode of a NEW Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy series on BBCRadio4 (how fitting) at 1830. The walk to Ely was very windy and the first and latter quarters were best (the first being shaded and sheltered with trees and the latter with views of Ely Cathedral enticing one onwards to the goal) but the theme of the day was windy and flat. I arrived at Ely public toilets (where i remembered to stop the timer) after 4 hours and 25 mins. I returned to a bennch I'd passed in Ely on route to the bogs with a view of the river and sat down ate my sarnies and put of the hungry geese/duck-things. I was going to set off at 2 but I couldnt be with waiting around doing zip when I could be getting some more miles done! I set off at 1345 and got home after 4 hours and 45 mins at 1830 as stated above.
Listened to HHGTTG on the radio and had some OJ and water (not carried enough water on walk so was very thirsty, or food/energy also: I used it all up so need more if insane enough ever... (...to do this walk again) No Fucking Chance! I ran the bath which took an amazingly long time to fill (shit hot water pressure in house, big bath) and then soaked blistered foot (r) and sore legs and feet in bath: nice! Then hot soup and coffee and bread, mmm. Im tired.
Takehome: It was a self-imposed challange which I am ecstatic to have completed, never again though!

Tyler Hamilton Olympic TT Gold winner tested +ve for doping in both Olympics and this years Vuelta (where he won the ITT, stage 8, and pulled out a few days ago after a "dodgy stomach". I hope he's not guilty cos cycling does not need this shit.
ManU beat Liverpool last night 2-1.
England BEAT Auzzies in the cricket!!! Amazing.
