it ain't a race but I like racing

I like going fast but not the extra hastle that goes with it. In the perfect world all would be at the same speed as me.
The positives from going faster than everyone else: feel the buzz from going as fast and as quickly as one can do on the given bit of bike and given bit of body and terrain. Adrenaline rush from the speed. Exercise and endorphines generated, as well as cardio workout from the extra pace.
The negatives which come from going faster than everyone else: not part of group; faster than others so potential for anger/feeling of personal inadequacy on others' part (not good if going in a group, if one is leader or even if all are going on the same route).

Went cycling with Eleanor, Alex, Henry, Mum, and Dad to one of the local cafes. Have I got so much quicker, they got slower, or were they always this slow?? Ahhrrgghhh. I had a good ride, doing sprints every once in a while, and the weather was excellent. Yeah the spring-time is here and it was great to get out on the mountain bike again!

Sunday - 8 click walk with Mum and Dad, good to go out. Walking is a bit of a hastle at the moment for me. I walk into and from work 5 days a week (6 miles each day) and then go walking on the weekend (10+ miles), it is all a bit boring. When I start to commute by bike I hope walking will become less of a chore and more fun again!
In the evening Nanny, Grandpa and Alan came over roast lamb and spuds. I got some money from N&G, Eggs and money from M&D.
The Oxford fuckers won the Boat Race.
Bobby Ulich won the Criterium International, adding to his victory at Paris-Nice he's doing very well !

Saturday - 30+ mile bike ride to windsor gt park and back with Eleanor: zillions of respect to Ellie who rode the whole ride on a mtn bike (i was on my Dad's tourer/hybrid bike). Off and on-road, the route there was really good, except for the the way back which was along a lot of roads and we were tired (no cafe stop, what??). Lots of hills and the roads on my bike were really smooth, much better than my road bike :) The off-road sections were very bumpy and I had to keep out of the roots and puddles for this would fuck the bike up and would have thrown me into the brown stuff. I decided to go up Surry Hill, almost made it except for the bike spinning out from under me on the steeep section just before the peak.

DestinationFinchingfield
Distance68.88 miles?*

Average Speed17.3
Max. Speed40.1
Odometer128.6 miles (+252.6 miles)

Remarks:B ride; about 10oC; light headwind on "out" leg and tailwind on "return" leg.

At last, another bike ride!! I did manage to go out last weekend for a 35 mile ride to Royston and back checking out routes for commutage later in the year (50 mins there, 1hr back - by two different routes). This ride was really good! Although completely spent as I rode home through town (due to us kaning it back to C at 30+mph) I was at the front-end of the group for all the ride. I did some sit-ups the night before and they deffo help with back structure and pain-release.

fire...

this week ain't been so baad at all. Today, it was incredibly busy non-stop full throttle madhouse munting. I got a card so I can get in out without the receptionist being there which is good and I feel part of the gang.
Lance pulled out of Paris Nice with a "throat infection" hahar, he is too slow and this is his first race of the season shows cycling's supreme selectivity of be fast or don't win. Lose some of that butter fat lance, show us your pace. But I still want Yan the Man to crack it again, come on you German turbo jet bolt of lightning.

let me be the one

right off. Work is incredibly shit. There's so little to do that I am very very numbed by it all. If there were something to do then it would be good because I would be doing it and time would then flow much better. To make matters worse the Boss is an unapologetic Satan cracking down on more than 5 minutes in the office even though there is nowt on. Jesus, how long can I take it??
The weekend was ace. I went to see Lemon Jelly in town friday night (first gig in 8 months, shit fucking is it that much?) which totally blew man, it was the total bomb oh yeah. The early following morning I trained it to the rents and went shopping for books and mother's day gift and card. In the eve went out for a Thai meal with the rents and got very slippy on red wine and Thai beers. Sunday we went walking with Bird watching too and I caught the train back Sunday night.
Yesterday I went to see the life aquatic which was fucking funny, totally Monday cureage. Yeah

blackberry tangerines

yeehah. First few days of job this week have been involved with training me up to be super-pleb. All very dull and well if things don't change sharpish I shall be fucking annoyed. Money in the bank will be nice and if this is the only kind of job there is then this will do for the short-term but I am not liking the idea of this job for too long.
yeeehahr (2): Our two new housemates moved in yesterday, they are good blokes and lots of red wine is being drunk. I bought a wireless router so we now have i-net but there is no TV or music. I am going to the parents this weekend and will bring my amp back and I am going to buy speakers to add to my MD so music is not too far away.
I am reading Wild Swans at the moment, started last year but put aside for something new, after finishing "one flew over the cuckoo's nest". The latter was the most excellent book which I have read in a long long time.
